Service for July 30, 2023

Brothers and sisters, greetings in the name of Jesus.

I begin by reporting a quick summary of the voters’ meeting held last week. We heard reports from the various officers and committees, but since we did not have a quorum in attendance, all significant decisions were tabled until the October meeting. I would encourage you to plan now to attend.

Many of you are planning vacations. I would ask you to remember that the expenses of the church continue even if you are gone; as a matter of fact, expenses for utilities increase during the summer as we run the A/C more and we have begun watering the lawn. Please don’t forget to send in your offerings. You can donate by going online to the church website and clicking on the donate button managed through a company called STRIPE. There is a fee for using this convenient way of giving.

On July 30 we will worship using the liturgy of Matins, which begins on page 219 in the LSB hymnal.

Hymns chosen for the day are #902 Lord Jesus Christ, Be Present Now; #542 When I Behold Jesus Christ; and#805 Praise God from Whom All Blessings Flow.

Scripture readings for the day are Deuteronomy 7:6-9; Romans 8:28-39; and Matthew 13:44-52.

COLLECT for the DAY:

Almighty and everlasting God, give us an increase of faith, hope, and love, that, receiving what you have promised, we may love what you have commanded; through Jesus Christ, Your Son, our Lord who lives and reigns with You and the Holy Spirit, one God, now and forever.  Amen.
