Who we are
Christ Lutheran Church in Pattison is one of the 6000 congregations of the Lutheran Church-Missouri Synod (LC-MS), a conservative denomination that has congregations in every state, and is in fellowship with a number of other conservative Lutheran denominations around the world.
Our congregation was first organized in the homes of German settlers in the 1890s. We have been a part of the Pattison community ever since, witnessing to Christ and serving our neighbors.
Where we are
Our church building is located along Highway 359 on the east edge of Pattison, Texas, 3 miles north of Brookshire and I-10 exit 732. We are a short drive from Katy and Fulshear, including the planned communities of Jordan Ranch, Polo Ranch, and Vanbrooke. Our physical address is 35912 Royal Road. Our mailing address is PO Box 507 in Pattison, 77466. Our real location however, is to be throughout the community and the surrounding county, wherever our members live and work and interact with people. We believe the Church is more than a building; it is the assembly of those who trust in Jesus, God’s Son and Savior of the world.
What is important to us
Like most congregations we have a number of activities here at Christ. But much more important than the activities we do is the work God does among us. God gives to the Church the means or instruments by which saving faith is produced and strengthened.
God gives us His Word. The Bible is God’s inspired Word, the revelation of His will. It is useful for teaching, rebuking, correcting, and training in righteousness so the people of God can be equipped for good work. And the Scriptures also reveal the identity and saving work of Jesus who has rescued the world from the shame and condemnation of sin. Even though we trust in Jesus, we are not perfect people. We need to hear again and again God’s will for us and His message of forgiveness and restoration through Jesus.
God gives us Baptism. God attaches His saving promises to ordinary water. The Bible tells us that in Baptism our sins are washed away and that we are united to Jesus, to share in the benefits of His death and His rising again from the dead.
God gives us the Lord’s Supper. In a mystery we do not fully understand, Jesus’ real body and blood are given to us–in, with, and under the bread and wine of this divine meal. This gift is provided to those who believe it is given and shed for the “forgiveness of sins”.
God’s forgiveness is not proclaimed by the wind or the trees. Jesus is not revealed in our dreams or our good intentions. Instead, Jesus has called us to belong to His Church, as He promises to be where two or more are gathered in His name. Jesus uses the Church to make known His promises and gift of forgiveness, revealed through His Word and distributed through Baptism and His holy Supper.
The members of Christ Lutheran Church invite you to come to receive, to learn, to serve, and to grow in faith in Jesus.
